* APPEAL: HOW TO APPEAL AN ORDER DECREE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH

SKU

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are a very limited number of days from the date of your order in which to file a written appeal with the Court (usually between 7 - 21 days, sometimes a few days more depending on your state). If you do not file by that date, generally you are forever prevented from complaining about the order. Therefore, you should take steps to protect your legal rights immediately.

This is a generic "do it yourself appeal forms kit" provides you with a sample brief, demonstrating how an appeal brief is formatted, and also provided the appropriate sections, as well as examples showing you how to word your own appeal. You may also obtain our Appeal Research Guide, which will show you step by step how to find out particular legal information, laws, court rules, etc., for your particular state and court. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the Research Guide also will show you how to find out the date by which you must file your written appeal. (Do not make the mistake of believing that a phone call or conversation with a court clerk or person will protect your appeal rights -- you MUST file a written document, and it is strongly suggested you take an extra copy to have it "time and date stamped" by the court clerk proving the date on which you filed it.

You should IMMEDIATELY contact an attorney in the state in which you will file the papers for advice and/or legal representation. If you should have any questions or concerns in preparing your legal documents, you should contact an attorney in the state in which the legal document will be filed BEFORE YOU FILE THE DOCUMENT for advice and/or legal representation, and to learn of any important filing deadlines. Many times, attorneys will provide you with a free phone consultation; you may also contact the state bar association in the state in which your documents will be filed to find out if they have legal aid that is free or low cost.
